CBD for Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest itself in a variety of differing and distressing ways. It can be specific to a situation or object, such as a phobia or irrational fear, or associated with social performance or situations. Anxiety may also present itself in certain individuals as isolated episodes of extreme panic, apprehension and worry, and can often occur as the result of a traumatic incident or series of incidents, in which an individual experiences persistent mental and emotional stress in the form of nightmares, flashbacks or panic attacks.

Living with Anxiety

Understandably, living with an anxiety disorder can be extremely detrimental to an individual’s quality of life and ability to function in professional environments, social settings and within personal relationships. The symptoms of anxiety can be triggered by a host of varying factors, and as such many people with anxiety disorders find themselves retreating from social situations and personal relationships into an existence of increasing isolation.

Although there exists a number of treatment options for anxiety disorders including psychological therapies and prescription medications, many people are seeking a more natural and holistic means of alleviation from the symptoms of their anxiousness.

CBD and Anxiety

This is where CBD comes in.  A study published in the US National Library of Medicine has examined whether CBD helps to improve sleep quality and/or anxiety in a clinical population, after monthly documentation of anxiety and sleep quality in 103 adult patients at baseline and after CBD treatment. The study found that anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%) and remained decreased during the study duration. Sleep scores improved within the first month in 48 patients (66.7%) but fluctuated over time.

Although further controlled clinical trials regarding CBD’s effects on anxiety are required, the study concluded that

“Cannabidiol may hold benefit for anxiety-related disorders.”

It is believed that CBD works to calm the symptoms of anxiety by interacting with a receptor in the brain known as CB1 to promote serotonin signals. A lack of serotonin can not only lead to anxiety, but also to a host of psychological and mood disorders such as depression, aggression, impulsive behaviour, insomnia, irritability, low self-esteem, poor appetite and poor memory.

Our Green Stem CBD products harness the beneficial properties of CBD to offer a potentially-effective solution to the various unpleasant symptoms associated with anxiety and panic disorders. We’ve even infused our CBD skincare range with calming herbs and essential oils to further promote the soothing properties of the CBD compound, such as fragrant jasmine flower and aromatic sandalwood which have been used for centuries to promote mental clarity and physical calm to relax and uplift in equal measures.

Ultimately, tackling anxiety requires a holistic approach and, unfortunately, cannot be addressed by one quick-fix or singular factor. However, because CBD acts in a holistic nature to affect a broad spectrum of mental and physical functions, it serves as a more complete treatment with high potential for success. CBD is also a natural compound, making it a great option for anyone looking to avoid synthetic chemical medications in their pursuit against the often-debilitating clutches of anxiety.

Take the first step towards silencing the incessant voices of worry, unease and fear with the help of CBD and the relaxing, restorative Green Stem collection.
